"If a 62-year-old woman is threatening to you, you shouldn't be behind a badge."
I was very active in following this battle when it was happening. My friend's daughter whom I picked up from school every day is part Native American, she spends her summers with her dad on the reservation. We had very lively discussions daily on our drive, she even spent a weekend there to show her support and shared her first-hand experience with me. This film brought it all back, all the feelings of disbelief and the memory of the live video feeds I would watch. There were times when this peaceful protest did look like a war zone. I am still shocked at what was happened in this country today. I cannot for the life of me figure out what the people down

"Wanted" is basically from a comic book that has limited series written by Mark Miller and J.G Jones, it is about an amoral protagonist (Wesley Gibson) who is discovered as the heir of super assassin. Russian director, Timur Bekmambetov, he is the cream of the crop, he turns this comic into a movie that make the viewers not sit still and make their adrenaline and cortisone levels spike with the actions. Bekmambetov used the similar style of shots and angles with his previous movie, Night watch. It's more to wide angle (long shot), so we can see the terrifying background like one of the scenes in the torture room, where Wes has been beaten up by the butcher. Not even that, there are many special effects that Bekmambetov applies in this movie, like slow-motion with sound effects that certainly provides that "ouch" reaction from audiences.…

The dog movie “The Champions” I found to be a touching and profoundly dramatic film about the pit bulls rescued from the brutal fighting ring of former Atlanta Falcon’s star quarterback Michael Vick. It chronicled those brave individuals that risk it all to save them, overcoming much pressure from PETA and the Humane Society to euthanize them. The film successfully exposed the prejudice and much misunderstanding while slowly eradicating the myths surrounding this breed. The documentary unfolds the journey of five of the dogs such as Handsome Dan, Jonny and Little Red to name a few, and their second chance on life and their supreme power of resilience and the true significance of the Human- Animal Bond. It features several rescue organizations such as Best Friends Animal Society of southern Utah, BADRAP centered in Oakland, California and individual families who reached out to these creatures with love and compassion.…

This topic is not that widely discussed in everyday life so this movie really helped open that topic up for discussion amongst moviegoers. It gave people a basic overview on the situation between a group of Native Americans and the US government. It was enjoyable to watch this movie about an important historical figure in American history. It was different than most movies about US history because it focused on the struggle between Native Americans and the US Army. It depicted the vivid landscape scenery of western America as well as suspenseful gun wielding action sequences.…

If you were to google pictures of “war zone” and then google again “riots” you would see a lot of similarities between the images: fire, destruction, debris, thick plumes of smoke. These images will give you a good idea as to what transpired and the eventual aftermath, in the evening of the Vancouver Hockey Riot. Some would argue a series of unfortunate events, such as inadequate planning, closing liquor stores early that day, and allowing overcrowding of downtown Vancouver. However what really happened was a handful of “proud” Canadians taking it upon themselves to destroy property, each other, and their city. Perhaps these youths were suffering from a psychological shift “after where a loss almost seems like an attack on your identity,…

In society today, mentally ill people are often subject to misunderstanding and abuse because of their difference. In response to this, many types of media, including film documentaries, have been created to try to explain and explore the lives of these people. One such film, Witness, a short biographical film directed by independent filmmaker Michael Buckley, investigates the themes of mental illness, documenting the key protagonist John Harrowell during his forced residence within a mental intuition. The film The Believer, is a film about Danny Balint who is a Jewish boy that becomes a neo-Nazi. He grows up to be an angry, violent guy, attacking Judaism and Jews. Throughout the film, the paradoxical anti-Semitic view of Jewish self-hatred can be seen but along with this, viewers see that as much as Danny hates Jews and Judaism, he cares about the traditions as well. Although Danny kills himself, thus ending the protagonist, the ending of the film is inconclusive. One could argue that Danny chose to take his own life because of his internal struggle between being a neo-Nazi and a Jew.…

What we experience at the in a cinema while watching a is of three-dimensional space; however, we know for a fact that it is two dimensional. It is said shadows are made of light (sun), they are ethereal because they can come and go they become sheer pigments of our dream and imagination. While objects that we see are perfect exact 100 percent replica of a real person; hence why McGinn said that images of dematerialized body in other words has no physicality. In other words, McGinn is saying you see his body, but you are not really seeing his body; they are real, but not real at the same time. Unlike dream, films can make a body “perfect” due to the fact that it cannot decompose, damage, etc.…
