I would diagnosis Ms. R with Social Anxiety Disorder and Avoidant Personality Disorder. They were both chosen because the DSM says that can be both co-occurring and I couldn’t rule out either of them completely. Social Anxiety Disorder because she fits the criteria as she stated she is afraid of being judged in social settings. This has been going on for years to the point of where her mother interacts with repairman. This does affect her socially in that she isn’t dating and doesn’t do much for herself socially. Avoidant Personality Disorder also fits because she, 1) Avoids occupational activities involving significant interpersonal contact, due to fears of criticism, disapproval, or rejection, 2) Shows restraint within intimate relationships
