He gets the opportunity to take his brothers place on a mission to a world called Pandora where he will be working with the scientists to learn, and understand the people who live on Pandora they are called Na’vi. To enter the environment of the Na’vi masks must be worn to breath. The Na’vi are very in tuned to their environment and the nature. The Na’vi people are like humans in the fact that they have the same body structure but the addition of a tail. The use of their tail is to connect to their environment and animals. They learned to become one with nature, animals and one another: “One of the more interesting elements in Avatar is the neural connection fibers that each living creature is born with on the planet. Animals, humanoids and even the trees have these neural connection fibers, allowing all living creatures to "plug in" to each other's neural networks. Once connected, they can feel each other's emotions and thoughts. They are, in essence, operating as one single being with expanded sensory awareness” (Adams). In the film, Jake learns how important it is to connect to animals and people with use of his tail. He is the hero of the plot as he takes what he has learned from his experience with the Na’vi people to help fight back against the humans. Jack Sully prays to Gaia to help save them, at which point the female character Neytiri Na'vi says, "[Mother Nature] doesn't take sides. She only maintains the balance of life" (Adams). His new sense of life helps him see that he was on the wrong side of the field. Learning to become one with nature with the use of his tail …show more content…
“The film climaxes with a battle between the united Na'vi clans of Pandora, led by Jake in his Avatar body, and the RDA forces. At exhaustive length, the battle finishes and the Na'vi emerge victorious” (Alessio & Meredith). He switched sides because of his rebirth on Pandora. Where he was constantly learning how the Na’vi communicated, how to fight, hunt and be like them. “He becomes more and more fascinated by their culture (his "passions" roused). He begins to perceive himself as one of them. He tries to convince them that he alone knows their needs, for example, to leave Hometree or to "negotiate," because he knows their culture so well” (Alessio & Meredith). However, the antagonist is Colonel Quaritch who does not care to understand the Na’vi just wants to destroy them and take what he wants which is the unobtanium. What really upsets him is when Jake who was supposed to be his spy turns on him “Jake, in his Avatar (faux Na'vi) form manages to infiltrate the Omaticaya, the clan of Na'vi at Hometree. He befriends Neytiri (Zoë Saldana), a female Na'vi, and eventually they fall in love, signifying the shift of Jake's loyalties away from the humans. However, Selfridge and head of security Colonel Miles Quaritch (Stephen Lang) decide to relocate the Na'vi forcibly by destroying Hometree” (Alessio & Meredith). The reason he no longer stays

However, Jake has become disillusioned with his Colonel’s murderous tactics and now sympathizes with the Na’vi. Invictus Theme

The theme for the poem Invictus by William Ernest Henley is you are the master of your fate. The reason I think that this is the theme is because in the beginning the author talks about he wants to thank whatever gods there are for his unconquerable soul. This can be interpreted as the power that we all have freewill. He also tells of under the bludgeoning of chance his head is unbowed meaning he will not submit but knows what he has done but still wants his freewill and will not give in to torture. He admitted the menace of the years will find him and shall find him unafraid for he does not fear what is to come because he knows that there are actions for what he does in the mortal world.…
