It is inevitable that at some point in life or another, everyone will face challenges. The way individuals respond in the face of these challenges is what truly makes or breaks them. Societies are impacted similarly, for what determines the success of a society but the actions of a group of individuals. The greatest feats of mankind have come upon in the wake of being faced with difficulty. Humans have the capability to surpass any challenge; it is only the question of how we deal with said issue, and how far we are willing to go in order to achieve success. In the movie Avatar, it is portrayed that challenges and difficulties are an inherent part of the human experience; the way they are dealt with will strongly direct the course of life. In Avatar, the concept of challenge is developed with depth, and the effects of the different ways of dealing with it, is shown. Individuals cowering behind challenge, without doing anything to remediate it will only hinder their own progress. The only way to get ahead of the problems is to face up to them and follow them through, which often requires the pursuance of an ideal or goal of some sort. This applies to the actions of individuals within a society also. When it is the entire community that is facing a challenge, it is imperative that individuals overcome difference and come together to push for the greater good. When there is nothing holding a group together, we get situations like the one depicted in Avatar, where everybody does things solely for their own benefit and the entire society succumbs when faced with challenge. Overall, it is evident that situations that challenge us, if tackled correctly, are what truly enable us to achieve our full
