Thank you for your questions. As I mentioned, companies expect their employee’s loyalty and dedication for their job. Additionally, the company also expects their employees to follow their core values, including honesty, helping others, making the right decisions, reliability, positive attitude, team leadership and more. “When values are out of alignment, people work towards different goals, with different intentions, and with different outcomes. This can damage work relationships, productivity, job satisfaction, and creative potential.”…

Motivation is the great catalyst which fuels the leaders of today and tomorrow. My ambition has fuelled me to assist my community and my environment for a brighter future. Also, this same determination has led me to take initiative to lead for changes in the local and global community. In addition, my curiosity and the need to learn more about various subjects is constantly stimulated by my drive. From what I’ve read about the previous Loran Scholars online, many of the scholars had some form of motivation which led them to do similar activities I have done.…

Within the city of Corpus Christi, there is evidence of economic disparity. I discovered this through my experience with the Junior Achievement (JA) program, and through data collected and observations made on my assigned school and its neighborhood, and of other JA schools in the city of Corpus Christi. All data and observations were collected to show comparisons between each JA school. The information found is valuable because it is important to know about both the physical side of a community and the economic side of a community, and how they compare to each other, as well as how they compare to other communities within a city. Junior Achievement is an organization dedicated to educating young children about branches that deal with economics,…

Over the course of the past few months, I have visited a “dive bar” in a strip mall residing in Santa Clara. On Mondays, from 8:00 PM to 11:00 PM, I visited Woodham’s Sports Lounge (referred to by the patrons as Woodham’s) on their Open Mic night. During these observations, I specifically noted the behavior of those who reside in the bar. In my performance, I will be focusing on the comedians/patrons who repeatedly would take the stage every week. There are three compelling cultural practices that I want to convey through about this community.…

Los Angeles is a place where people of different social backgrounds lead increasingly separate, parallel lives. Individuals from all social backgrounds participate in routine activities in micro-spaces throughout the city such as purchasing a cup of coffee or riding the bus to work. These people can be a student going to school or a senior citizen out on a stroll. Even though they may cross paths and share certain spaces on a consistent basis, that does not mean that they live identical lives. Instead, they come to embody the notion of leading increasingly separate yet parallel lives.…

Salisbury High School is a small school with a welcoming environment. Because of its location, surrounded by Allentown School District on all sides, I would expect it to have a more urban feeling, but it feels much more like a suburban school. The atmosphere feels laid back with definite boundaries. In my weeks there, I have yet to witness an act of disrespect or insubordination. The school is clean, bright, well-kept and is rife with school spirit.…
