Ava was seventeen when she went to visit her sister Bappie in New York City. She was not like the other teenage girls with wearing makeup or wearing new fashion forward clothes. Even though Ava did not dress like the other girls, she was still seen as a natural beauty to everyone. The photo’s her brother in law Larry took of her would be exactly like how she was in person a natural beauty, along with being a natural beauty in the pictures he took of her. The pictures he took of her would later end up in his photograph shop window in New York city, where Ava would first be seen by a man who works for Metro- Goldwyn Mayer. The man came into the shop to ask for Ava, however Ava was already back in North Carolina. After the man told Larry who he worked for also claiming to be a talent scout for Metro-Goldwyn Mayer telling Larry Ava could be the next star in Hollywood. …show more content…
They brought the photo’s in the next morning explained to one of the talent scout the reason for the photo’s of Ava. The talent scout then told Larry it was a scheme for him to get pretty girls to go on dates with him, and that he was just an errand boy for them. The talent scout told Larry that Ava was a beauty, and he would love to give her a chance to be a part of MGM. After Ava would find herself in studio posing for video shoot to send to Hollywood, which she would later be called to Hollywood on August 23, 1941.
