Ava Phillips-Edwards: A Case Study

On My case was heard in Tulare County Superior Court,Visalia regarding custody of my minor child Ava Phillips-Edwards dob: 02-19-14. My attorney Eric Hamilton represented me and we covered child custody and visitation of my child. I Valori Phillips am the child’s biological mother and have both physical/legal custody of Ava. Ava’s father Chad Edwards had not been present in my life since December 2013. He had not participated in Ava’s life up to this point nor had we had contact. Chad had been in custody in Fresno County for felony hit and run and drug charges. Following his jail time he was in and out of court mandated rehabilitation programs.
During our court hearing on Chad was asking for visitation of my child. After speaking with my attorney we agreed that Chad could have SUPERVISED visits with Ava twice monthly for and hour and half each visit. These visit would take place in Exeter at a Public park.

I have been very guarded about Chad entering Ava’s life due to his extensive criminal history that I was recently made aware of. Chad has been a violent offender and served time in state prison for Home Invasion robbery, assault,burglary and a slou of other charges. The short time that he and i were in a relationship I discovered that he had a severe addiction to pornography which controlled his
