Autonomy Of A Business Manager Essay

The first question that I would ask would be about the autonomy given to a business manager. The more autonomy a business manager has over their department the more likely that unit would perform better on critical decisions. Since the manager of that unit knows and understands their unit the best they can make quick and rational decisions that affect their unit the best. For instance, if there is an issue with an employee in that unit the manager will be able to make a rational decision on what to do with that employee.

The second question I would want to clarify with the CEO is what functional programs and facilities does the business unit share with other facilities? This information will be helpful because as a manager you will make schedules for different reasons, and if your facilities are shared with another department this will affect your schedule. It may not always be a bad situation, but it may be an inconvenience at times. For example, your department needs to have a conference with an important client. If your facilities is share you will have to schedule conference room time with the other unit.

The organization structure refers to the way an organization is set up. How the company arranges its employees, delegates the work that needs to be performed, and determines what goals need to be met. This allows for the company heads or mangers to know what responsibilities they have, and what needs tending to. Thus, organization structure is important in a large corporation because there is so much information that needs to be communicated. Therefore, I would ask the CEO about the organizational structure of the company because I would need to know whom to speak to about certain assignments, or if information is coming to me I need to know where the information is coming from.
