When fighting a war you want to try and do any and everything you can to turn the tide in your advantage. Going back all the way to the development of rifling in barrels, the development of the minie ball, or the development of the Gatling gun; innovation has been the centerpiece in the evolution of war. These developments were meant to give the side using them a significant tactical advantage. Every single one of these gave their side an advantage and was instrumental in winning the war they were developed during. At the time that each one of these technological advances was instituted there was an increase in the casualties the other side experienced. This increase in enemy causalities also showed a decrease in friendly causalities, which is always a good thing. War is all about gaining seizing the initiative and holding it. If you can do this with a new technological advantage why would you not use it? All of the above advances did just that for those who used them. So why should we not try and do the same for ourselves? Don’t we owe it to our troops to do everything we can to help them do their job and come home
