“The automotive corporation, including ford, I think are in the business of trying to make cars people will drive” (Greg Kinnear.) That quote was said by Greg Kinnear and he was stating why automotive car companies make cars. Automotive Technicians repair, diagnose and maintain cars and trucks on a daily basis. Being and automotive technician is a great job for someone who wants to work on and learn about cars, wants a solid salary and wants terrific job security. One benefit of being an automotive technician is that you get to work on and learn about cars and their technology. As an automotive technician you will be able to repair, maintain and diagnose many different brands and types of cars (Automotive service technicians and mechanics.) As a technician, they have the option to take a test on state inspection. If the technician passes that test they will be able to do state inspection on cars and trucks which opens up job opportunities and they can make more money. Also technicians can test for emissions on a car to make sure that car isn't unhealthy for the environment. Technicians also learn about new automotive technology on a daily basis. Every Time a technician gets to work on a car, they will learn more about the car they were working on and what …show more content…
In 2012 the median salary for an automotive technician was $36,610 (Automotive service technicians and mechanics.) Most technicians make $17.60 an hour (Automotive service technicians and mechanics.) This varies a lot depending on where the technician works and if it is at a dealership that is owned by a company, or if it’s at a independent garage where it might be family owned.
