The internet had always been a sanctuary for me. My childhood was me spending endless hours just streaming the net for absurd videos that was consider “hilarious”, comics, and connecting with my friends virtually. Nevertheless, now that I am six-teen years of age, I am still spending hours on the internet watching movie and socializing. Hence, even though my tasks on the internet seems quixotic, it occupy my days which provides me with a satisfactory feeling. Furthermore, no longer do I consider the internet as an artificial intelligent, but my closest friend that I had ever made. In spite of the fact that the internet is my “friend”, I also entitle it an agent of destruction. “Money is a great servant but a bad master” address by Francis Bacon, and I could assume that the internet share the same characteristic. I use to believe I could control my obsession towards the use of the net. Yet the more I grew, I notice uncontrollable argue to check my phone every five minutes, I would become short tempered when I am interrupted from my routine on the net, and even fell vibration from that phone, but only to find out it was a figment of my imagination. Correspondingly, from past experience I have seen a friend of mine whom was dominated by the internet, he was help captive in in room breaking bonds between his family, friends, and even skipping meals. Often I would spot him dwelling upon thoughts on how he could overcome a level in his game. Moreover even during school hours and even when he is spending time with me and other friends of his, he carried around his electronic to game or even goes on the social media, which was ironic since he was already with me and others. Despite of his socially awkward attitude; without the companion of an electronic device for a long period of time, he was become agitated and even saturnine. What the New research says” has noted, a psychologist at MIT, Sherry Turkle, which said “Technology can make us forget important things we know about life.” In my opinion, I agree, and I believe even though technology, such as the internet, claims to bring the world closer with instant communication. However from my perspective, the internet had deters many individuals to be consider “normal” in society view.
