Then my grandmother called from Puerto Rico and told my mom to name me “Jamie” so my mom named “Jamie” to make my grandmother happy. She felt this name was better for me because it sounds a lot more professional, also she had a feeling I was going to be someone famous or at least a successful person. As a baby random people in the hospital would look at me and say “Oh my God! That baby is beautiful.” Also so many people thought I was a Mexican baby because I was really light …show more content…
I was too busy thinking about going and not thinking about how to get there. So every time I tried to run I fell on my butt, although it hurt it didn’t stop me from trying again and again. As a kid I didn’t believe in the phrase “give up” because something in my brain kept telling me to “try again” so I did. Although I was a kid I ran like a track star, so my mother really had to run after me to catch up to me. While I was a kid I felt a lot freer and I knew there was nothing holding me back. On the other hand, I didn’t know that the world was so judgmental yet because I was only focused on

It was about 3:45 in the morning on a Sunday, where I found myself and my excited, wide-awake, good-looking boyfriend driving down a dark, eerie road to a hospital that was 61 miles away. Surrounded by a team of nurses, one doctor, and what seemed to be a grouping of blinding lights, I had a peculiar moment of serenity. I can’t quite explain whether it was the epidural or the fact that for twelve hours my body was engulfed by excruciatingly painful contractions which seemed to be attacking me in a sporadic manner, but in that one moment everything was perfect. Somehow I just let go off every single fear I had, I just remembered that in any moment there would be an extraordinary occurrence. Although a natural part in many women’s lives, since the beginning of time, it was a phenomenon in my life.…

My Birth Story Birth stories have a lasting impact on expectant mothers. Recognizing the influence of birth stories is a key component of informal communication of knowledge about childbirth for expectant mothers. The goals of the birth story interview and discussion are to provide an opportunity to explore the sharing of a birth story as a critical way of knowing within the family and community, and also to promote understanding of the prenatal period and taking-on of the parental role. The topic of storytelling is important to nurses and families, as it allows the integration of the nurses’ experiences into their future nursing practice, which may be invaluable in facilitating authentic and meaningful connections with their patients.…
