“A hero is someone who steps up when everyone else backs down.”(Anonymous) They never give up no matter the situation. Heroes in real life are not like in the comics and they are not dramatized, but instead they’re real people risking their own lives. Heroes put others before themselves and are ordinary people that do remarkable things, they are not wrapped up in their own needs. Heroes are people who put others before themselves. For example, a video called “Boatlift” describes that on 9/11 United states airlines crashed into the twin towers and one person who didn’t think of himself was Vincent Ardolino, the captain of Amberjack. “ I’ve gotta do something” he exclaimed when he knew he had to grab his boat and help the people of New York City. Vincent didn’t care about escaping himself and he saved many people from getting hurt. In addition, Abraham …show more content…

For example, in the "Autobiography of Frederick Douglass" Douglass stated "I felt myself a slave... I said what I desired." Even though he was scared for himself Frederick spoke up for all the other slaves who needed his help. Plus, in the movie Mulan, the main character enlists in the army to help her sick father because her father would easily die in combat. Mulan jeopardized her own life to save her father. Lastly, in the film "The Man with the Red Bandanna" Welles R. Crowther saves many people on 9/11 in the south tower. One survived who he rescued is Ling Young she quoted that after he saved her Welles said " I'm going back up" He saved even more people after that. Although, Welles never came down but he is still remembered by his selflessness acts. No hero is ever selfish and they show that by their
