Autobiography of Atropos – Master of Death I am Atropos, “she who cannot be turned”. The savior and yet the plague of the humans. But, ah, I assume you don’t know me because all you mortals care about are those dimwit Olympian gods. Well that’s too bad because as soon as I say so, those gods are as doomed as Troy. One snip of my shears could be the death of you. Literally!
I am death. My two sisters and I are all together death. We are the fates! We decide on the length of a mortal’s life as well as how long the rule of the gods should last. Clotho spins the thread of life; Lachesis, the Measurer; and I, the Cutter of life's thread. Most think, “How do you have time to cut all that thread?” but you little humans have no creativity at all. Time is not measured the same for me. You see, to come talk to you petty little things, I would’ve had to stop death if time was the same for me. The world as you know it could’ve been a disaster if people stopped dying – on a side note, that would make an awesome plot for an extravagant Hollywood movie. Oh, yes! Remember when I was telling you all about how a goddess as important as I cannot be ugly? Remember that? Ok. No? Fine. Let me reiterate it. I play a crucial role in Greek mythology so I simply cannot be ugly. But that doesn’t quite hit the mark does it? I need to tell you why I’m so important, don’t I? Well, first off, I kill everyone, the good guys and the bad guys. Is that important enough? No? Ok. I get to decide when its time for the Olympian god rule to fall. Is that good enough? Fine.
