Autobiographical Capstone Project

For my autobiographical capstone project, I will choose the photograph autobiography. I am choosing the photograph biography because I think that for this certain project, photos are the best way to represent my timeline. In this project I will pick 6 photos from my life that best explain my life. I will put them on a poster that I will creatively decorate. Under each picture will be a description of each photo. The description will explain what is happening in the picture and who I was during that time. I will most likely choose a picture from my baby or toddler years, when I first joined BSS, two pictures in between first and fifth grades that will an include a picture of me playing sports. Then to finish the project two pictures from myself

A snapshot memoir is factual stories about someone’s life that is somewhat important to his or her life. I have many snapshot memoirs myself, however I have one snapshot memoir that is most important out of the rest. My most important snapshot memoir was when it was my first orchestra performance to the elderly and the young at the Sunrise Senior Living center. Whenever I think of the memory I can hear the tunes of the national anthem and God Bless America coming from the the wooden boards of various orchestral instruments as the seniors and young ones sing along and clap as we go. Some of our songs helped the seniors express their happiness by standing up and clapping along while others shared their tears.…

I believe that my personal background, and my success despite the adversity that I have faced is an essential part of who I am. The first of my struggles came from being born to two teenage parents without at least a high school education, and although my mother went on to get a GED and to college my father did not. Many people in my family had issues with substance abuse and addictions including my father. Although, I was raised by my mother and grandmother, my father’s actions and behaviors negatively impacted my life. My father was verbally and mentally abusive to the people around him, especially when he used alcohol.…

Everyone knows the YMCA song, but everyone doesn’t have the same connection to it that I do. This building never contained one life changing event for me, but it has been a pivotal place in my life. A place I’ve referred to as home many times, the YMCA has shaped who I am as a man. This pivotal spot is where I suffered my first traumatic injury, changing how I do things for the rest of my life; but also was the place I went to when coping with family incidents. This institution, in particular the basketball gym, helped me find myself, changing my life forever.…

It was a scorching summer afternoon around three o’ clock PM at J.D Redd Park. I was anxiously waiting in third base for the batter to approach the plate and smack the yarn covered ball just enough for me to make it to the home plate. As the sun hits my face I see the pitcher retract his right arm getting ready to throw it. As I see the ball leave the pitcher’s hand, I breathed in the humid air, making preparations to sprint as fast as I could and make it to the home plate. Before I could even gather my thoughts the ball departed from the pitcher’s hand and into the bat of one of the members of my team.…

For most people asking for a Capri-Sonne is not a defining moment in their existence, for me that sliver colored squishy pouch of fruit juice with grapes that looked like purple miniature beach balls etched in the middle was the object that lured me into the world of speaking German. I was 2 years old when my mother received a phone call from my father exclaiming that the Army had assigned him to William O. Darby Kaserne and later that month our family, would be uprooted from suburban Seattle and replanted in a rural yet medieval Nuremberg, Germany. Thus far, my world as I knew it had been a two-story cream-colored house with white trimming occupied by nuclear family, my two elder brothers, Hiram, 6 and Theodore, 4, my mother and father. In this world there existed only one language, English and only one me.. After a grueling 20-hour flight, stopping in Detroit, New York, London, Frankfurt and finally Nuremberg.…

I had a brother named James who had cerebral palsy and was paralyzed from the waist down.
