Auto mechanics take certain skills. Skills that you use on a daily bases and skills that they will teach you. Auto mechanics is a job and career that will never die out because cars will always be around. Many places will start you out with simple jobs as in cleaning cars or airing up tires unless you have the skills that they feel necessary to start off straight into main work. It is a job that can get you noticed. There are small car shops and there are big car shops it all depends on your location and what kind of environment you want to work in. Do not plan on working in the same shop for your whole mechanic career because you will be recommended by your managers and boss to other

It is a consistent job for people that work hard and live a comfortable life and do not mind making the amount of money that they make. The BLS reports that in an average auto mechanic worker who earns a certification from the National Institute of Automotive Service Excellence may earn a higher pay and possibly better job opportunities. Bureau of Labor indicates that auto mechanics earned around annual salary of $38,560 and an average hourly wage of $18.54 as of May 2011. Half of auto mechanics reported annual salaries of between $26,850 and $47,540 and hourly wages of between $12.91 and $22.86. The 10 percent of automotive techs who earned the lowest made $20,620 or less per year, and the top 10 percent of earners made $59,600 or more per year. Now as a young adult with no family of his or her own 20 to 60 thousand a year can easily give you enough money to make it by and live comfortable. The average auto mechanic is responsible for the full range of automotive maintenance and repair needed to keep all District vehicles and equipment in good running condition, including gas, diesel and electrical engines. Incumbents in this classification typically inspect automotive, and/or farm equipment to determine necessary corrective action; perform diagnostic tests using engine analyzers; fabricate or modify equipment and various other metal structures. Auto mechanics is a job that men and woman can successfully make a career out of and is very popular. The career starts off slow and can have ups and downs just like every other job but sticking to a job and wanting to make something out of it is what matters.
