Tyrone has been referred to CDT by Dr Sarka Davidkova to be placed on the autism spectrum disorder (ASD) pathway. The referral provided background information highlighting speech delay, behavioural issues, stereotyping behaviours and lack of imaginative play. Sheree Briggs, Psychologist completed an autism assessment (18.12.14). Kathleen Kokiri, Tyrone’s grand mother consented for a developmental assessment to be completed at the Central ABC Kindergarten. Tyrone regularly attends Kindergarten 5 days a week. He is under the Special Education team, key worker is Jae Te Are (Early Intervention Teacher, MoE) who provides advice and support regarding his needs and an individual plan.

Developmental Profile:
Tyrone was assessed using a developmental screening assessment - the Schedule of Growing Skills (SOGS). This explores areas of language, vision and hearing as well as fine and gross motor skills. We were able to assess Tyrone in a separate room within the kindergarten which minimized distraction. Kathleen Tyrone’s grandmother was present for the duration of session and she highlighted that things have improved with Tyrone since we last met (May 2015). Tyrone responded with hand gestures and eye contact, limited verbal response. He did not appear to understand complicated questions therefore moved on and focused on her capabilities. Please note, Tyrone has been assessed by Charmalika Abeyewardene MNZAS, Audiologist, in July 2015 with test results indicate that Tyrone has a mild conductive hearing loss, rising to essentially normal to a slight loss in the right side, and a slight conductive hearing loss rising to normal hearing in the left
