Alleged disability: autism, learning disability, behavioral problems, and attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD).
His mother reported that he needed reminders to take a bath and to take his psychotropic medications. He had difficulty with memory, concentration, completing tasks, understanding and following instructions, and getting along with others because “some people don’t understand his condition.” He had difficulty handling stress and changes in routine. He was aggressive at times and was hospitalized twice in a psychiatric facility. He spent 5-8 hours a day watching television, playing games, collecting “rare cheap items,” and watching movies.

His family was dysfunctional; his biological father was incarcerated for childhood rape and contempt of court. There was an aggressive incident between the claimant and his stepfather and as a result, his mother had a mental breakdown and was hospitalized for three months. The Department of Children and Family Services was involved and the claimant and his sister were removed while his mother was in the hospital and because of concerns about the safety of the trailer in which they lived.
The mental health provider documented that during some of the visits, there was an “odor of animal urine noted in room.” The claimant’s answers were “younger than 18 year old,” his behavior was inappropriate at times; his insight and judgment were fair/poor, and his mood was depressed. He had “Very poor tolerance to frustration.” The diagnoses listed included autistic disorder, and anxiety disorder. It seemed that he also had auditory hallucinations.
Per the SSA form 5666 (Request for Administrative Information- 05/10/2016), the teacher stated that she last taught the claimant two years prior to completing this form. He received special education services because of an emotional disturbance/behavior disorder; however, the claimant would go to class for 2-3 days and then she would not see him again.
