Unlike children who aren’t affected by the Autism disorder, children who are see the effects of their symptoms in their everyday lives. Individuals with autism may have a difficult time sitting in class or completing an assignment that requires them to use critical thinking or complete a lengthy task. Children and adults without autism are usually able to mold to new schedules or cope with the introductory of new peers or associates while for individuals with autism “…slight changes can be extremely stressful and lead to outbursts.” For some of these individuals being placed in new situations can be very overwhelming and can cause them to shut down or act out.
