Ever since the infamous paper that wakefield published that forces a correlation between autism and vaccines, there has been an enigmatic fear vaccines. Measles is comparatively more worrisome than the latter as it can cause eventual death if not treated. All these diseases are easily preventable. Vaccination immunizes your child from various diseases by creating antigens, a memory card of what your body should attack if the disease is seen. Vaccinating your child protects other children. There are individuals that either cannot be vaccinated or vaccinations do not provide the necessary protection. This is seen in newborns where they are too young to be vaccinated and individuals who already have weakened immune systems from previous conditions. This can occur from AIDS (acquired immune deficiency disorder syndrome), immuno-suppressants and chemotherapy patients (What Are HIV And AIDS? | AVERT). Vaccinating your child decreases the spread of contagious diseases. Children who already have immunization can pass down their resistance to their offspring. This similar to how humans built resistance to the common cold. Vaccinating your child is such a simple way to protect them and others.
