An essay exploring Orwell’s use of Symbolism throughout his novel “Animal Farm” in order to illustrate his views on authoritarian regimes parallel to what had happened throughout the Russian Revolution.

George Orwell’s had his novel, Animal Farm published on the 17th August, 1945. It is an animal fantasy novel which retells the story of the Russian revolution, the rise and development of soviet communism in the form of an “Animal” Fable. A major aspect …show more content…
As the novel has been told in the perspective of the animals of the farm as a whole (sometimes slips into Clover’s Consciousness), this helps Orwell show the oppression experienced by the animals on the farm, and are portrayed as a mass of loyal, hardworking, but gullible group of animals. These aspects of the animals give Orwell a chance to really show how in an Authoritarian society, oppression does not only rise from the ideals and tactics of the oppressors, but can also come from naïveté from the animals, who, in this scenario, are in no position to be better informed of the situation or further educated.
