The Authenticity of the Bible In today's society the Bible is brought up for many controversial reasons. The main argument about the Bible is that it is not true. To argue truth you must know what truth really means. Truth is defined as "That which is true or in accordance with fact or reality." Therefore, what is real is true and what is unreal is false. There are plenty of facts in the bible and in our history that make the Bible true. Archeological facts and discoveries, medical facts, prophecies, manuscripts and scientific facts provide factual information that the Bible is accurate. In biblical times, scroll writers would spend every day etching their words into various materials ranging from stone to silver. When they were copying the Old Testament they had to do it letter by letter. No letter could be carved without checking it numerous times and reading it out loud. Then a Sopher would count the words and letters to make sure nothing was missing, this left little room for error. (Hank Hanegraaff,2011, 9-10) The bible was written over a fifteen hundred year span, thats over 40 generations. The forty authors of the bible all come from different walks of life; kings, peasents, philosphiers, fishermen, poets, statesmen, and scholars. They all wrote in different places at different times, while they were in different moods and also in different languages. (Josh Mcdowell,1979 16-17) These biblical authors spoke on controversal subjects, these subjects al flowed together with harmony even though they had different authors.
