Authentic leaders “know who they are, what they believe in and value, and act on those values and belief openly and candidly” (Robbins, S., & Judge, T.). Followers consider Authentic leaders to be ethical individuals who share information, and encourage open communication throughout all parties. Authentic leaders tend to create a culture based on ethics that has led to an increase in team performance. Consequently, people approach them because they have faith and trust in their abilities. With ethics still in place, a Servant leadership style operates on the basis that the leader must go beyond their own self-interest and rather focus on opportunities to help followers grow and develop (Robbins, S., & Judge, T.). The company’s founder, Sarah, was in her mid 30’s and had roughly 13 employees. Sarah always spoke to us about how she was inspired at a young age by her mother to one day open up her own firm. What I appreciated most about working along side Sarah was that she fostered creativity among her employees. She always encouraged us to be more creative and innovative. She would ask for our personal opinions, and was very goal oriented when it came to the success of the company and the success of her employees.
