Authentic leadership (Bruce J. Avolio, William L Gardner, 2005) is one which is open, transparent and giving; so to inspire individuals to do their best and stretch their abilities and strength for a greater good. I think leadership is one, which is driven by the heart, as one that connects individuals to develop and nurture their skills, abilities, talent, innovative solutions and outputs that build on the strength of everyone. Leadership is about steering everyone towards a common purpose and good. It is about lending a hand as an enabler, as is being a strong role model to enhancing services, which in my context is to ensure patients receive quality care and services from our staff, that strengthens and enables them as health care professionals …show more content…
I am an enthusiastic & insightful individual, who encourages open dialogue, alternative ways of working & solution focused forums to develop strategic plans & change, including coaching as an effective reflective leader.
With significant experience as a board member, learning and development and clinical knowledge, the recent appointment has stretched my understanding of the importance of leadership in developing a high performing team, aside from day to day management. The Importance of Self-Awareness and Reflection
As a clinician and senior leader, I believe that a well-informed, rounded and reflective leader ensures consistent development of transformational leadership in self and the team.
