The Open Day held on a single calendar date in August attracts more than 12,000 visitors every year (Unisa.edu.au, 2016). The central goal of the Uni SA Open Day is to attract new students to study a variety of degrees at its campuses and to provide an insight into its facilities and research programs. The Open Day also promotes the university and strengthens its reputation in the local community. The Open Day is promoted to spectators through a variety of platforms such as high schools, social media, street and sign advertisements, and invites current students to volunteer. The event is free for visitors and does not require a ticket purchase or any monetary transaction to participate in its activities and information sessions. The host organisation for both events are heavily relied on for the event to successfully operate. Tennis Australia and The University of South Australia both manage all aspects of these events although the Australian Open is a for-profit event and the Uni SA Open Day which runs as a non-profited or ticketed event.
