Introduction
The Australian constitution are a set of rules in which Australia is governed. It was drafted as a series of conventions which was held in the 1890s. The constitution was passed by the British Parliament as part of the Commonwealth of australia constitution Act 1900 which took effect on january 1 on 1901. The constitution are voted by the people in a series of referendums and created the composition of the australian parliament, it shows how the parliament works, what power it has, power sharing between the federal and state parliaments and also the role high court and executive. Change is necessary in the constitution but it is not urgent. Referendum and high court interpretation allows the parliament to amend the constitution.

The double majority voting system is hard to achieve, since federation only 8 out of 44 referendums has be successful which was amended in the constitution. One of the most latest referendums which was not successful is the Establish of a republic in 1999. The latest referendum is in 1999 which shows why the australian constitution is also in need of urgent reform since it has not been changed. This would lead to the country not achieving social cohesion, one of the ways to achieve social cohesion is to adapt to the meet changing circumstances and values.
