A significant passage in the book is found on page 105,
“But while he was thinking this his feet were taking him, step by step, closer and closer to the dot in the distance, which in the meantime had become a peck, and then began to show every sign of turning into a blob. And shortly after that the blob became a figure. And then, as Bruno got even closer, he saw that the thing was neither a dot nor a peck nor a blob nor a figure, but a person. In fact it was a boy.” This passage is significant to the plot because the boy, Shmuel, and Bruno became very close friends, but the only thing separating them is an electric fence. Bruno’s father is a very respected Commandment in charge of the Auschwitz concentration camp. In the book Hitler himself and his girlfriend had dinner with Bruno’s father and mother. This passage is significant to Bruno because this little event leads to his death at the end of the book. This passage made me feel shocked and worried because most boys and girls in Germany were apart of the Hitler Youth and knowing that his father is so respected and royal to Hitler you won’t expect his son to not to want to follow his footsteps and if he told anyone what he saw …show more content…
I would recommend this book to Aaliyah because she likes to learn about the Holocaust. Her favorite book is The Book Thief which is about a girl, Liesel, who lives with her adopted German family during the Holocaust who hide a Jewish man and toward the end of the book, the town of Molching which where she lived got bombed so her adopted family, Rudy, and almost everyone on her street had tragically died in their sleep. I would recommend this book to Andrea because she also like the Holocaust. Another reason I would recommend Andrea the book is because the theme of the book can relate to
