In the two stories that we have read over the past few weeks, there are many attributes that both stories share. However, there are still various differences between the texts. Both "The Monkey's Paw" and "Aunty Misery" were short stories about the impact of human desire, but the stories branch from the same subject in distinctive ways. In this essay, you will be reading about both the similarities, and the differences between "The Monkey's Paw" and "Aunty Misery". A few important questions about the text will also be answered. There are unique ways that the plot develops throughout each story using the idea of wishes. In "The Monkey's Paw", wishing is what the entire story was about. Therefore, if Mr. White had never wished, Herbert would have never died and Mrs. White wouldn't have wanted to bring Herbert back. All of the misery would have never happened. In both stories death manifests in different ways. In "Aunty Misery", Death is shown as a skeletal figure who literally comes and retrieves people to come into the afterlife. In "The Monkeys Paw", Death is an event that happens affects the whole story. Unsurprisingly, the two stories aren't just similar in every sense.
