Auguste Lumiere and Louis Lumiere were two brothers who worked together in developing the first motion picture. The oldest brother, Auguste Lumiere was born on October 19, 1862 and Louis Lumiere was born on October 5, 1864 in France. They gained inspiration from their father, Antoine Lumiere, as he ran a business of manufacturing and supplying photographic equipment. In addition both brothers attended Technical School as they were really bright in the science field. Since the Lumiere brothers were involved in their fathers business, Auguste started experimenting with his father’s equipment and eventually came to a discovery that would change his father’s business . Augustes first noted advancement was when he came up with a new ‘dirty plate process’ in 1881. This promoted his father’s business and directed it to the path of success. However, this would not be the only recognition the Lumieres would receive. The Lumiere brothers’ next project would include a challenge of taking Edison’s device –Kinetoscope- and perfecting it as much as they could. Their goals included to …show more content…
Since their father was an entrepreneur himself the Lumiere brothers were able to follow in his footsteps. Not to mention that they knew the risks of a business and were able to motivate each other as a family. They weren’t only successful in film but Auguste was able to move on to medicine. Auguste Lumiere researched “such diseases as cancer and tuberculosis” and wrote a book about his research. His father on the other hand focused on his art until the end of his days.
Without a doubt Auguste Lumiere was one of the most intelligent and inspirational. He did not only accomplish so many advancements he also liked to help people as it can be seen with his practice of medicine. Without his accomplishments we would either not been able to film and watch films or we wouldn’t be as advance as we are
