Magnus means “Great” in Latin Life can change in the matter of seconds. In the book, “Magnus Chase and the Gods of Asgard, The Sword of Summer”, by Rick Riordan , the protagonist, Magnus Chase was living a somewhat normal life on the streets when all of a sudden his life turned upside down when his Uncle Randolph shows up and tells him that he is the son of a norse god named Frey and he must find the sword of summer or the world is going to end. Personally, if my Uncle told me this, I’d send him to a mental hospital instantly but Magnus was intrigued so he followed him to a river in Boston, where the sword of summer lies and only Magnus the son of frey can “feel” where the sword is in the river. So, Magnus feels the sword and grabs it and then a fire giant named Surt came out of who knows where, and asks for the sword of summer but being all heroic, …show more content…
Magnus was just a young boy living with his mother, then suddenly his mother dies and he becomes homeless on the street, in a course of a day. It reminds me of a time when I was younger and my grandfather died from alzheimer's and a week before he died we were hanging out in a park in Franklin, New Jersey. When I heard the news, I was struck with disbelief and again I was literally hanging out with him less than a week ago. Life can change and you have to be ready to make the most of your life because you never know what might happen. Another thing to be more aware of, that this book shares is to hang out with your loved ones and don’t block them out from your life. According to Magnus’s mother, “We’re staying away from the uncles. Especially Randolph. I won’t give him what he wants ever”, “it’s been 2 years since I have been in contact with my uncle.” Magnus hasn’t seen or talked to any of his family, ever since his mother died.
