College can be a very stressful time in a young adult's life. The transformation from teenager to adult is very difficult and calls for numerous decisions. These decisions include, moving out of their parents house, what kind of job one should get, what college to go to and how to pay for it. Paying for college can be very nerve-racking and if people do it without any help then it can be very difficult. In the two essays, “Pay Your Own Way!” By Audrey Rock-Richardson, and “Who Should pay for College?” by Yvonne Joy Landry, they both write about who they believe should pay and give very good reasons for their decision. They say that they will learn valuable life skills such as money management, time management, and multitasking. However, paying one’s own way through college is not the only way to learn those skills. Students can learn these skills through many different ways such as through their jobs and classes or parents can teach them these skills. People also say that students will feel a sense of pride and accomplishment. That may be true, but even if a parent pays for student’s college education, student’s will still feel proud that they got through college. "The notion that parents must finance their children’s education is ridiculous" (Rock 19). If a parent can help then they should as it could reduce their child's stress level.
