Do you ever feel like your ears and your brain don't fully coordinate? Don't worry, you're not the only one. Auditory processing is a disorder referring to how the central nervous system uses or interprets auditory information. When I was 6 years old and in first grade my parents put me through multiple tests at Rochester Hearing and Speech, I was officially diagnosed with auditory processing. Not long after that, I was also diagnosed with ADD. After this, I shortly learned that school wasn't going to be an easy journey. Grade school was my true definition of an obstacle. I grew up in a supportive family where I was told “You're only given as much as you can handle.” And so I did. I learned many different ways to overcome this obstacle. Things …show more content…
I loved it but I also watched some of the women I worked with struggle to make ends meet at home, financially, and being present for their growing families. Because family is so important in my life, I decided to go to college. After the struggles I faced in grade school I never imagined myself ever attending college but I was determined to at least get an associates degree in business to eventually open my own salon. My second semester I enrolled in a Speech Communication class designed to help communicate in the most effective way. My professor always related back to his educating years where he had to communicate with all different ages of students. My visit there was with my cousin who previously attended and graduated in 2005 from the education program. He now lives in Orlando and is a successful gym teacher. This was the first highlight of the school because he was a student who now has a job, something that can be difficult to do in the education field. He showed me around campus and immediately I noticed and fell in love with the the alive, energetic vibrancy on campus. I also chose UCF because of the incredible sense of balance between the high caliber academics and social life. Most schools have one or the other and you don't have to choose here. And lastly because UCF is centrally located and is so large, it would allow me a unique opportunity to meet people from all over and learn not only from professors but from other

TCU is great fit for me because it is a smaller university. I like how TCU has less than 9,000 undergraduates and has a 13 to 1 student to faculty ratio. This means students will get more individual attention. The city of Fort Worth seems to be a great college town and TCU has great school spirit, which both work well together to offer a great college experience. TCU is a great fit for me because it has an encouraging learning environment that will allow me to excel in my studies and grow as a…

I believe TCU is a great fit because I think it is the perfect school for me to develop into a productive adult. It is a prestigious school that honors discipline and hard-work which I believe are two characteristics I can work on. The level of education is also held at a high standard and I believe I can become a part of that. The campus also seems to be very friendly and welcoming and appears to be a school I can adjust to. I like the fact that it is a small campus which allows more individual…

On the other hand, the efficacy verification of such programs as well as the monitoring of the therapeutic evolution has been restricted to behavioral measures, with a limited quantity of studies that use objective methods aimed for this purpose (Alvarenga, Araújo, Ferraz & Crenitte, 2013). The Cognitive Auditory Evoked Potential (CAEP) - P300 has been used to measure and monitor neurophysiological modifications of the central auditory nervous system (Alonso & Schochat, 2009; Anderson, Baldridge & Stanford, 2011; Sassi, Matas, de Mendonça & de Andrade, 2011). Given that P300 is an endogenous potential elicited by auditory discrimination when the subject consciously reacts to rare stimuli randomly presented between frequent stimuli (Musiek…

Witnessing the way those nurses attended my mother triggered my desire to one day become just as them. through them I realized how much I would enjoy having the ability to care for others especially my family.…

School was not easy for me, and I had to work extra hard. In the end, I had the best learning experience while I was there. At times, I did have low grades and ended up finishing my undergraduate career with a low GPA due to exams, not studying enough, and working and going to school at the same time which became a big load. But, I did not let that stand in my way of completing school and following what I wanted to do. With the help of my professors and fellow classmates I learned a better study method and how to be consistent when it comes to taking exams, but most importantly, I learned that it’s ok to ask questions if you don’t understand something.…
