They wanted me to be an athlete, however, that wasn’t in the cards. I was always the kid that worked the hardest, but sometimes that’s not enough. After I gave up trying to be the athlete my parents wanted me to be, I found music. Not only was music a great way for me to express myself, but it’s the first thing I was ever good at. I love to perform if I could do it as a career I would. I’m also what I consider an accomplished composer/arranger for my age. Composing movie music is my ultimate goal, but I also find audio engineering an interesting career. I think I could succeed in an audio engineering career because I enjoy meeting new people, and it is a career which requires much interaction with others. …show more content…

Mr. Rodgers has been one of the most important people in my life by continually encouraging me to expand my musical repertoire. It is because of him that I am adept at a variety of musical skills. He convinced me to join Varsity Singers which was one of the best decisions I’ve ever made. One of the only musical things I did on my own was write music. After writing a few pieces I asked Mr. Rodgers if our band could try to play them, however his response was always lackluster or that it was just too difficult for our band. He pushed me to get better, not only in writing good music, but also writing according to a specific group’s abilities. When I joined Varsity Singers I had no clue what I was

I was striving for an unattainable goal because I didn’t work towards any form of progression. On the other hand, being an instrumentalist has taught me the importance of daily goals, a good work ethic, and dedication. With that in mind, I am becoming more aware that music is not just the notes on an staff but also the zipping of a jacket and even the tumbling on a trampoline floor. I believe that my five year old self would be proud of who I am becoming because I have already completed my personal goals instead of lacking improvement in the shadows of someone…

Lou Rawls, an American singer, once acknowledged music as the “greatest [form of] communication in the world” (“Brainy Quote,” n.d., para.14). Music is a way for people to express themselves and their feelings comfortably without being ashamed or embarrassed. While these are positive contributions to personal development, there is much more that music provides for people. The article, “Is Music is the Key to Success?” by Joanne Lipman, addresses how music can help people communicate, think, and feel better in a professional job that may have no correlation to music.…

In Aldous Huxley’s “Brave New World”, citizens live without individuality, intelligence, and emotions, all of which can be connected to the absence of playable music. In the real world, everyone is affected by music that they listen to or create themselves, but it is truly underestimated. People have the distinguished ability to express their individuality through the varying types of music in the world and how they react to it. Being a musician can challenge someone’s mental and physical abilities and, if they accept the challenge, can make them more intelligent and capable members of society. Music can also cater to one’s differing emotions and help them to understand their feelings and coping methods.…

It can be hard for me to forgive someone who has crushed on of my dreams, but holding grudges does not help anyone. In fact, holding grudges can make it even less likely that I will ever accomplish this dream some day. For example, when I was in fifth grade, I wanted to be an actress. Much of my life when I was younger was spent singing and attending many performing arts camps. When I was in seventh grade, I got the lead in the winter musical…

This covers a spectrum from adhd to ocd, from self harm to eating disorders, from stress to bipolar disorder. I believe it is important that people who struggle with issues seek help and are not stigmatized for it.
