In 2014, Mr. Spivey worked for the U.S. Department of State, as the Unit Lead for the Body Guard Protective Security Operations Program. Mr. Spivey said that upon taking over the program, he was unsatisfied with the five day training regime give to foreign nationals, and believed there was an opportunity for restructuring the training program to benefit the students enrolled in the program.
What did you do to change it?
Mr. Spivey coordinated with the Regional Security Manager (RSM), and requested that the training program be extended to two weeks to give his students the opportunity to learn multiple mission critical skills. In 2011, Mr. Spivey worked for the U.S. Department of State, as the Academy Training Lead for the Afghanistan Presidential Protective Services. During his tenure, he managed multiple security personnel, while ensuring the operational effectiveness of his training program. Consequently, Mr. Spivey not only met operational goals, but exceeded expectations by receiving buy-in to increase the overall training period to two weeks, which improved the effectiveness of his student-graduates.
How were you able to do it?
Mr. Spivey met with key stakeholders, and justified the need to increase the training timeline. Through his partnership with the Regional Security Manager, Mr. Spivey was able to incorporate several new training modules into the program, which increased his student’s knowledge base.
