This hypothesis explains that people who find each other equally attractive tend to pair up with each other. A common term found in the dating world that fits this well is dating in “one’s league,” finding people, like stated earlier, that we find equally attractive as us; But for a person that someone finds too attractive, a term associated with this is described as dating “out of your league” (Sprecher, S. & Hatfield, E. 2009). To put this concept in simple terms, this effect is under the belief that, “What is beautiful is good.” It is obvious and plain as day, that an individual’s physical appearance is the most, if not, discernible and accessible trait that can be observed by others (Dion & Berscheif 1972). People have a tendency to find those who are physically appealing to bear good, inner qualities such as kindness, courage, sociability, and honesty.
