You could also become a partner and potentially own the firm. There is more ability to advance in a government job because you will start at a lower position because there are more jobs in the government for attorneys. You could start out as a paralegal and then eventually work as a prosecuting attorney. You can also begin to get more and more cases as you stay there and get better at your job. An attorney has different pathways depending on what you do as an attorney. Attorneys work with many different people that have related careers.
