An Analysis Of Atticus In To Kill A Mockingbird By Harper Lee

Jem in the story act different when people make fun of Atticus. He can control his anger before acting on it. Except when Ms. Dubose got involved and made said something that pushed Jem to his limit. After Jem breaking something of Ms. Dubose he got punished by Atticus to go read to her. However Atticus was going to send him anyway, even if it wasn't a punishment. Jem would judge Ms. Dubose all the time because of her attitude and the things she said. One thing that Jem never stop to think about being why she acted that way. When he read to her Ms. dubose used that time to forget about how sick she was. She sometimes wouldn't even care what Jem read. What was significant was for the pain to go away. “ it may have been a distraction. There is another reason-...she was a great lady . She had her own viewpoints.” (149). Aunt Alexandra wants Scout to become a lady that wears dresses, drinks tea, and stay out of the unprotected things the “ladies” aren't supposed to hear. How Were Scout isn't like that. A true lady means that she cares, but she stands for what she believes in. She also doesn't gossip any of her business across town. Aunt Alexandra did not see the lady in scout, but instead she saw the stereotype that scout wasn't meeting. At this point Scout has changed because later the true lady of Aunt Alexandra truly shows which some of it reflects off Scout.
