So far Atticus has treated both his kids fairly and with respect. No matter what trouble his children are in, he still treats them both the same. Now normally parents would speak to their children as if they don’t know any better, but Atticus talks to them differently. He speaks to both Jem and Scout as if their smart and know what’s going on.
