Atticus Is A Hero

Atticus was a very nice guy. He stood by a black man in court and helped all he could. Back then they didn't like blacks very well. Atticus stood by tom in a tough case. Even though he knew whites were still racist to blacks and would probably judge him for what he did he still stood by tom and did what he thought was right. He stated the reason he helped tom was “if I didn't I couldn't hold up my head in town”. “I couldn't represent this country in the legislative” “ A lawyer gets at least one case in his lifetime that affects him personally”. “This one's mine I guess”. Next, Atticus was a great loving father. Even though he was a single parent he still gave his kids a good life and let them make their own decisions and let them learn from their mistakes. He sets an example for his kids when he defends a black man from charges that he raped a white girl. He showed no matter what color you are you need to be treated equally. A hero is someone who is known for a certain achievement or many achievements. Atticus was for sure known for something big. He defended a black man in court. So many white people back then weren't very big fans of blacks and were very racist and mean to them. What atticus did took a whole lot of courage and I have a lot of respect for his character in the book. I dont even know if I would do that. He knew people would probably judge him for what he did but he didn't care what other people thought. He did the right thing and his character had my
