Atticus Finch Showing Courage

Monday, April 11th, 2016 members of the Smithsonian Institute, in Washington D.C. celebrated and honoured two men who showed great courage throughout their lifetimes.

They decided to honour Eliezer Wiesel and Atticus Finch, two men who fought against the odds.

As Atticus Finch said “It's[courage is] when you know you're licked before you begin, but you begin anyway, and see it through no matter what.” With that said these men most definitely displayed a great amount of courage.

Even president Barack Obama came to honour these men for their bravery.

Eliezer showed courage when he pushed himself to survive, every single day. This was not an action done out of fear of death. Elie admits death would be easier than the pain he enduring,

    Before making my comment I realized how serious of a scene this was in the book, but not how scary of one it must have been for Jem and Scout. When reading from the text I focused mainly on what was happening surrounding Atticus, however when forced to create the scene as a drawing the smaller details stuck out more and the terrifying situation that Jem and Scout were in came to life. Despite the horror of the situation standing out more, what was shown in even more force was their bravery.
