Atticus sent aunt Alexandra to play kind of a mom role in scout's life. To make scout more of girl. Scout was not accepting the fact that she couldn't be a tomboy until it finally clicked. At christmas dinner scout did not think very highly of her aunt. “I decided she had been swapped at birth, that my grandparents had perhaps received a Crawford instead of a Finch”(103). Scout is saying that she thinks Aunt Alexandra is from a different family. Scout wouldn't mind if she went back to that family either. After aunt alexandra came to live with scout they fought and didn't see eye to eye for a long time. But then one day it finally clicked for scout. “After all if Aunty could be a lady at a time like this, so could I” (318). This is showing how atticus knew that it was going to be the right fit,. He knew it would take time for it to happen, Scout showed courage and never gave up on aunt alexandra even though every single day she wanted to. In the novel To Kill a Mockingbird Harper Lee showed the importance of raising kids and how it affects their life. The Ewell family is an example of how raising your kids poorly and being a bad parent affects their life. Burris went to school in nasty clothes very unprofessional. He said some very rude things to the teacher as well. The Finch family other hand is a complete opposite. Atticus raised his kids to be polite. Although scout was a fighter

Aunt Alexandra and Atticus didn’t always see eye to eye on how Scout should be raised. Since Atticus had been raising Scout alone since she was two, he had never forced her to act like a girl, as it was something he probably wasn’t familiar with and wouldn’t have been able to teach. He simply wished that Scout would make her own decisions and learn from her own experiences. Jem was taught by Atticus, since Atticus was a gentleman Jem simply had to observe. For Scout though, observing wouldn’t have been enough.…

However, Aunt Alexandra is the complete opposite. She believes in a complete authority. For example, Aunt Alexandra frowns upon Scout’s tendency to wear men’s clothes instead of the more tradition dresses worn by the majority of the population. In one of the most famous quotes in the book, Aunt Alexandra says, “Aunt Alexandra was fanatical on the subject of my attire.
