Atticus Father

Atticus may have a few issues, but he still has many wonderful qualities as a father. All parents make mistakes, but Atticus still teaches many valuable lessons and is a superb father. Atticus shows many reasons why he is a admirable parent to Scout and Jem. Atticus isn’t always around to help the kids, but when he is, the kids enjoy it. He helps Scout gain more knowledge then she learns in school. Atticus is a excellent role model to his kids. Jem has always been inspired by him since their mother died. The kids would not be the same if Atticus was not there for them. He teaches the kids to accept all and be kind. Atticus has rubbed off on his kids because the older they get the more they start to act like their father. Jem starts to act like a young adult and starts making better decisions in his life from watching Atticus. Atticus will help anyone, because he does not judge anyone. “I’d have made you go read to her anyway.” When Jem had to read to Mrs. Dubose, he did not like it, but in the end he learned he helped her out a lot. This showed Jem how thoughtful his father is.
Atticus teaches many good lessons, but he isn’t always there for the kids. Anytime the kids want to play with him, he tells them he is “Too old.” Scout and Jem always talk about how Atticus is just old and useless. Atticus has a very involved job, so it is hard for him to get home sometimes. Atticus tries to be with his kids as much as possible. He is a single dad trying to raise two kids during the Great Depression, he has a lot to handle at once. Atticus tries to be the best father he can for his kids.
