Individual disabilities and their severity can have a very broad range. They can affect many different aspects and parts of a child’s life from simple ways to very complex ways. Such as the way they play with other children, how they read a book, even how they see the world. In this paper I am going to talk about Attention Deficit- Hyperactivity Disorder a learning disability that effects the lives of an estimated nine percent of children (Hunt, Marshall, 2012). Yet not only the children are effected also how the families are effected and can find dome help coping and supporting the situation involving their child’s ADHD. I will also be going over the affects that it has on educational settings, development, and what accommodations can be used in an academic setting to help a student with ADHD.

The definition of Attention Deficit- hyperactivity disorder (ADHD) in the DSM-5, the latest updated version, is People with ADHD show a persistent pattern of inattention and or hyperactivity-impulsivity that interferes with functioning and development. (American Psychiatric Association, 2013). As stated there are two types of ADHD a person can be diagnosed with one type or both, the types are categorized as hyperactivity and impulsivity and inattention.
