Attending UACCB has benefitted me because it has allowed me to obtain my associates degree in one to two semesters of being out of high school. Being allowed to take these classes while in high school has given me the option to start my career earlier than most kids my age. I have taken 15 college classes, and while I have struggled at times to keep up with having high school and college classes, I have gained so much respect for myself because I have been able to see what I can handle. I have conditioned myself to taking three high school classes with sixteen to seventeen college hours. My college classes have boosted my GPA. These classes have boosted my GPA from 3.2 to 3.65. Attending UACCB has allowed me to skip college classes when I actually get to the point of being a full time college student. I am able to show my interest in criminal justice because I have taken all but five classes toward my associate’s degree. Attending UACCB and taking all of my concurrent courses has given me the opportunity to minor in Spanish. I would not have had the time to if not for UACCB. Attending UACCB has allowed me to save more money than imaginable. College will still be expensive, but it will be much more affordable since I have got most of my classes out of the way. I have taken three semesters of college while in high school, and I have saved roughly $10,000 dollars. Saving all of this money has allowed me to plan some extra things in my life to do besides school such as vacation. I have learned many skills while taking my classes in high school. Taking classes through UACCB has taught me study skills that I never learned before. I never studied before these classes because I never had to study with high school classes. I have learned time management skills, and I have learned that it is possible to work 3 days during the week and every weekend and go to school 5 days a week while getting all of my college work

I have been an “honors” student since the fifth grade. After graduating high school, I had no intention of purposefully participating in anymore advanced or gifted or honors classes, anything more rigorous than normal was ultimately not on my radar. After all, these are the type of classes I had known my entire school career. Nonetheless, I was slightly disappointed when I found out that students were invited to join the honors college on immediate acceptance to Georgia State and I had not been one of those lucky souls.
