For the final course deliverable, I attended a free health care seminar /workshop/ conference/webinar or professional association meeting. On March 30, 2016, the Kaiser Permanente Learning (KP Learn) department offered a seminar based on the book and educational series by Dr. Steven R Covey, The 7 Habits of Highly Effective People. The seminar was held at the Kaiser Permanente Franklin Medical Office from 8am to 5pm. I chose to go to this seminar as they are a good way to network with others in the same field that want to learn and share perspectives that are related to the topic. According to an article What Are the Benefits of Attending Seminars, written by Kori Morgan, Ms. Morgan stated that attending seminars have numerous benefits, …show more content…
According to an article by Alan Henry, The Science of Breaking Out of Your Comfort Zone (and Why You Should), your comfort zone is a behavioral space where your activities and behaviors fit a routine and patterns that decrease stress and risk. The benefit is that it will provide mental security, which leads to regular happiness, reduced stress and lowers anxiety levels (Henry, 2013). A student can gain many benefits if they choose to get involved. Professional organizations can assist their members in getting a job or at least steer them in the correct direction where jobs are. Being a part of a professional organization can also provide students with a mentor within their field. Mentors can help the student gain the knowledge and guidance on their career track. Professional organizations can also provide professional development by offering courses and workshops. They also keep their members well informed on any industry trends that are changing and assist them on how to handle the change. These organizations often have an annual conference, which gives students an opportunity to network with other professionals in their field. These professionals may be hiring managers that may be in position to offer any jobs available and if there are, no jobs available if the student makes a good impression the hiring manager may keep that student in mind when a job does

What is the importance of being a member of a professional organization? It is important because becoming a member not only looks great on resume, it also shows involvement on making this career as more than just another “job”. It means that you are interested in doing more than just working as another cardiac sonographer in the medical field. In some annual meetings of these organizations you’ll get the time to network with other cardiac sonographers from other hospitals or clinics from all over the country. This is a great opportunity to meet people and ask questions about their salary, what equipment they use, etc.…

Most know Ronald Reagan best for his acting career and presidency, but not many look back to his past and sees how his leadership roles started early in life; which is where mine starts. Throughout my life, leadership has always been a part of me, I have always strained to help others and try to lead them the right way. Trying my hardest has helped me make a great impact to those around me by showing them what can be done. When I was in eighth grade, a new opportunity was given to my class to take a high school course early, and I decided to be one of the few to go through with it, knowing it would be a lot of work. I started thinking about how this could be a benefit to me.…

National Student loan debt is a huge issue for many Americans today. If I’ve learned anything in the past four years, it’s to start early. Starting early can mean many things and in many ways can help you be ready for the cost of a college degree. First and foremost, when I say start early I mean in terms of education; setting yourself up to receive grants and scholarships because over time it all adds up. It wasn’t until my senior year of High that I truly understood how important it was to work towards a high GPA and really get yourself involved in the community.…
