The Atomium: World War II, World's Fair

The Atomium originally built for the first major exposition after the World War II, World’s Fair 1958 which also known as Expo 58 in Brussels, Belgium. The Atomium stands 102 metres tall with nine spheres and its stainless steel clad spheres are connected so that the whole forms the shape of a unit cell of an iron crystal magnified 165 billion times. Actual designed by a Belgian engineer, Andre Waterkeyn, Atomium supposed to stand only for the duration of the sixth-month of the World Exposition. However, today, the Atomium becomes a unique remembrance of the Belgian steel age in which it was created and one of the important landmarks on Brussels skyline as it is the focal point for millions of visitors since the World’s Fair until now.
Although some of the spheres were closed to public due to some safety reasons as they are not vertically supported, the bigger problem in this spectacular building is the management. Almost all of the visitors get annoyed as they had to face a long queue to buy tickets. Some of the ticketing staffs are quite rude too and ticket prices are believe to be unreasonable for the experience that they got. Visitors also need to queue to ride the …show more content…
They should provide sufficient maintenance to the building. The last time they had a renovation for the building is in 2006. The lift sometimes are not functioning and stairs can’t be used because of the management negligence. Actually, stairs does help for visitors who willing to climb up to avoid queue and it is important during emergency times. They should also add more lifts at the base for visitors to move to the top. Other than that, they should revise the ticket price as they had nothing much to offer. Even the bathroom also need to be paid. More ticket counters also needed as the Atomium is receiving quite huge number of visitors daily. This could help to prevent a long
