Atomic Bombs On Japan

President Truman and the United States justified in dropping the bombs on Japan. This is because the atomic bomb saved thousands American lives along with, believe it or not, Japanese lives. Quite obviously, if the war between the U. S. and Japan went on, both sides would have lost a lot of lives. From the scheduled two land invasions in and other battles that could have occurred as well. It is estimated that more than 80 million more Japaneses and many American lives would have been lost fighting in the war if the war continued. Anyways, after the atomic bombs were dropped, there weren’t any more battles, which meant that many lives were saved from potentially being slaughtered. Also, dropping the atomic bombs, Fat man and Little boy, helped

On August 6, 1945, the US dropped an atomic bomb on the Japanese city of Hiroshima and another on Nagasaki three days later. It is estimated that both atomic bombs killed somewhere between 150,000-250,000 people within 1 month of each detonation. However, before both bombings the US urged the Japanese to surrender in order to avoid such destruction, but it took two bombings before the Japanese surrendered. The purpose of the atomic bomb was to force Japan’s surrender in order to save lives, avoid requesting the aid of the Soviet Union to win the war, and to shorten what could be an unnecessarily longer war.…

Atomic bombs Truman could have prevented dropping bombs on Japan and tried other methods. Truman should have negotiated as much as possible. Try to come to agreement that will benefit both sides equally. Another method could have been to take out the bigger people like the emperor and the army that was the strongest. This method would have made Japan weaker and have no choice but to surrender.…

I feel that president Truman’s justifications for the atomic bombs were subversive, superficial and misleading. He wanted to prevent an invasion of Japan in order to save lives. Since theoretically the casualty count of the bombings would have be much fewer than the impending invasion. He also wanted to prevent Soviet involvement, as well as displaying to them the might of the puissant U.S. military. To me, it just comes down to the semantics of the final ultimatum from the Potsdam Conference.…

As the President, Truman’s duty is to protect his citizens and by following that command, proceeding with the atomic bomb was one way in limiting the number of casualties of American military. Not only would preventing the invasion of Japan save the American casualties, it would help Japan as well. During the war, the Japanese government restricted the amount of food intake by its civilians for the sake of the war. As stated in the article, Lakeland Ledger, “Many people would have starved if the atom bomb had not been dropped. There is a possibility that the Japanese military would have sacrificed the entire nation” Truman had the right idea and estimates in ‘saving’ lives when dropping the bomb.…

In 1945, Japan was attacked with an Atomic Bomb. President Truman advised the bombs to be in place when bombing Japan. I believe that Truman should have done things differently before the bombing, but I also believe that he should have bombed Japan, but, I’m in a strong belief that they shouldn’t have bombed Japan. The reasons I believe that they shouldn’t be, they could have worked out a better form of issues to resolve, bombed it differently without the use of Atomic bombs, and lastly, let the Japanese people live in America. Japan and the United States should have resolved issues so they wouldn’t need to go to war.…

Two million innocent Japanese lives were taken in an inhumane way, the bombs were not targeted on military bases but on non-soldiers, also Truman based his decisions on racist beliefs. The bombing of Hiroshima and Nagasaki, Japan was a sad and tragic event that killed thousands of innocent Japanese people. This fatal event could have been prevented with a single decision from our American Government in 1945. Our American government and President Truman decided that it would be better to take the lives of Japanese civilians, than to use a different plan that could have saved their lives. Michael Barnes is correct when he argues about atomic bombs being unnecessary to use in World War Two, because it took the lives of innocent people, it may have been racially motivated, and alternatives could have been made instead of using this weapon of mass destruction.…

President Truman ordering for the atomic bomb to be dropped saved many American lives because if the bomb was not dropped, the war would have continued even longer giving Japan a longer time to continue invading the United States killing more and more Americans. Even though there are arguments that Truman knew that there were many other ways to end the war, if he had used other ways, it would have took time for him to think and come up with other ideas to end the war which would have gave Japan more time to invade and kill Americans.” The Japanese had made a determination to fight literally until death”, this means that Japan will continue and continue to invade America.…

The decision to use nuclear weapons The decision, made by the United States of America, to drop nuclear bombs on the Japanese cities of Hiroshima and Nagasaki may not have been the most popular or best choice for the planet; but however, it was the choice that needed to be made to end the war in the pacific. This decision was made so that both sides would suffer the lowest number of casualties possible. The United States had a conference with Japanese leaders to attempt to bring the war to an end peacefully, however the Japanese had made it very clear to the United States and president Truman that they had no intention of abandoning the code of honor they live by and would fight until the last man. After this conference the Decision to drop…

In 1945, the US and Japan were at war. The Pacific War was a brutal one between the two countries, and neither were willing to surrender, nor face the possible consequences of surrendering. In an act of desperation to get Japan to surrender, the US dropped what is called the ‘Atomic Bomb’ on Japan, successfully ending the war between them. Although the bomb had ended the war between the US and Japan, the US shouldn’t have dropped the Atomic Bomb because designing and building it was rather costly, the US was prejudiced towards the Japanese, and the full knowledge of the effects the bomb would cause was lacking tremendously, especially in long term effects.…

“Little Boy” Imagine being President and being faced with the decision of having to either drop a newly tested atomic bomb on a Japanese City, harming thousands of innocent people in attempts to get them to surrender or sacrificing your own men by sending them to invade Japan in hopes to conquer them all to put an end to an ongoing war . No matter the option the consequences of the outcome wasn’t going to be a nice one. Before the bombing took place in Hiroshima in an earlier part of the Second World War the Japanese were becoming a threat to the Allies. With only little chances of winning, the Japanese were letting the U.S know that they weren’t going to be an easy surrender.…
