Well, President Roosevelt put together a team of scientist led by Robert Oppenheimer to build this Weapon of Mass Destruction. The bomb was made out of a Radioactive isotope of Uranium, Uranium 235. This Bomb was 2 billion dollars’ worth of research. The Bomb was ten feet in length.
On August 6,1945 a B-29 plane named the Enola Gay set out for Hiroshima . Strapped to the bottom was the “Little Boy”, or the Atomic Bomb which was ten feet in length. The plane dropped the “Little Boy” and it exploded 15ft above the ground because it was an aerial bomb (YahooAnswers.com). It was equivalent to 20,000 tons of TNT. The “Little Boy” killed 80’000 to 100,000 people on impact and 150,000 to 200,000 people within 5 yea4rs because of Radiation exposure. The “Little Boy” created a disaster.
What were the Environmental Affects? Well, when the bomb exploded it spewed up Tons of dust that became Radioactive from the bomb the radioactive dust coated everything including the wreckage, plants, and trees. The initial blast killed just as many animals as humans, but the wildlife that survived later died from radiation exposure. The “Little Boy” Ultimately killed the local Ecosystem. People feared nothing would ever grow again from all the destruction and Radiation. Hiroshima had a great Recovery today Hiroshima has a beautiful
