Atlanta Community Observation

The organization that I participated in was the Atlanta Community Food Bank. This group provided foods to the people who are unable to afford food in a supermarket. It holds several events that allow many people to come and volunteer. The event that I participated was the Marta Fresh Market Produce, and that is held every week from Tuesday to Friday in different Marta Station. Honestly, I believe this was a terrific idea because it allowed people who have no rides to get food before they leave to support their family. Another, thing that was good about the Fresh Market Produce is their special offer with EBT. If a person uses an EBT card whatever they buy, the total price is half price off. However, that is not the only form of payment

I have also co-founded a Community Outreach Club at high school. Through the Church I’ve assisted with Vacation Bible School and middle school retreats. One of my favorite memories came from volunteering for the first time with National Spanish Honor Society. Choosing to participate in this program was not a difficult decision, since I knew I wanted to continue practicing my Spanish and volunteer in the community at the same time.…

I was able to volunteer at a local bank that was sponsoring the Lake Park Elementary School for the holiday season. The school has over 300 underprivileged students between the ages of kindergarten and fifth grade. Most of the students at that school only have one meal per day. Along with other volunteers, I packaged bags that contained candy, toys, toiletries, a blanket, and a pair of athletic shoes. The bags were able to provide the children with goods that we often take for granted.…

Additionally, I am also a nonprofit volunteer group called Yerkrapah which means Keepers of the Country. The purpose of the organization is to help the families whose family member was injured, disabled, or killed during the war. We help them, with food, cloths, medical expenses, and many more. The organization now has a program that those family members who struggle and have a medical problem do not need to pay anything from seeing a doctor up to surgery expenses. This helps to ensure that even though they lost their loved one but there are still people who care and will take care of them.…

the south’s economy must also be increasing dramatically. This leads to the question of the demographics of who is moving there, and what jobs they are taking, or what jobs they are making available. With Atlanta, Georgia being the place that looks like it will be the new capital of the south, and a big time destination for domestic migrants that seems like a good place to start to collect data for this. In 2010 women accounted for half of the population at 50.2%, blacks and African Americans accounted for 54%, so by this data the minorities in most states account for half of the city’s population.…

Medicine fascinated me even when I was a child. I remember being about eight years old when my pediatrician asked me what I wanted to be when I grew up. Without hesitation, I told him I wanted to be a doctor. I view medicine as discovery, the chance to learn the science surrounding the human body and develop the skills that will allow me to heal others. As I entered college, I pursued experiences that exposed me to the world of medicine, becoming more involved within my community and university.…
