Athletic trainer have the important job of doing evaluations on an athlete's injuries and providing rehab. Additionally to patient interactions they also have administrative duties which require filling out paperwork, documenting injuries, patient interactions/ rehabs, communicating with doctors and other medical and coaching staff.

Many tasks play an important part in sports. As an athletic trainer you have to evaluate and advise individuals to assist recovery from or avoid athletic related injuries illnesses or maintain peak physical fitness. They may provide first aid or emergency care. Athletic trainers specialize in preventing, diagnosing, and treating muscle and bone injuries and illnesses.

Careers related to athletic trainers are physical therapists and exercise physiologists. Physical therapists also prevent and restore injuries but unlike athletic trainers physical therapists help patient to develop, restore and maintain movement and physical function. As a physical therapist's you work with people of all ages and fitness levels with chronic and intense injuries. An exercise physiologist develop fitness and exercise programs that help people recover from chronic diseases and improve cardiovascular function, body composition and flexibility. These professions are similar in that they are customer service -based and customer care based. However, they differ in their scope of practice, educational requirements, licensure and work environments.

A college that offers this major is Southwestern college this is close to my house. The major that the schools offer is Kinesiology. The starting salary in California for this field is $47,860. Salary in athletic trainers field varies from $35,000 to $75,000 per
